ABSTRACT Parental involvement in school has a greater impact on student achievement than either income or social status. Not only do children achieve better grades when their parents are involved with their education and their school, they also have self-esteem, more self-discipline and higher aspirations. Yet, getting parents involved in their child’s education remains a stumbling block for many schools. The reasons are varied, but there are some common barriers faced by many parents such as time, economically disadvantaged parents, lack of knowledge in education, feeling uncomfortable and school created barriers. In each public elementary school, regardless of the economic status, population and its human resources, will always have a participation of the parents. The researchers used the Slovin’s formula to get the 10% of the total population which is equal to 74 pupil’s parents’ respondents who will answer the survey questionnaires. The descriptive design was employed in the study. The findings of the study revealed that there is no significant relationship between the extent of parental involvement and the academic performance of Grade 1 pupils in Lakeview Elementary School. This study aims to evaluate and to find the extent of parental involvement and academic performance of selected Grade 1 pupils of Lakeview Elementary School as perceived by cooperating parents for the School Year 2015-2016.The respondents of the study are the selected Grade-1 pupils’ parents of Lakeview Elementary School. Lakeview Elementary School had exactly 284 Grade 1 pupils enrolled during the school year 2015-2016. The Grade one (1) pupils were divided into 7 sections. The researchers used the Slovin’s formula to get the 10% of the total population which is equal to 74 pupil’s parents’ respondents who will answer the survey questionnaires. To maximize the possible outcomes and better suit the types of research, the researchers opted to use random sampling and fish bowl to ensure fairness and to eliminate bias in each section. Majority of the respondents who answered the questionnaire is females, who belonged to the high school graduate, employed and earned 5,000-10,000. Majority of the pupils got a general average of 80-84 from first to third grading.Considering the extent of parental involvement in terms of parenting, the average weighted mean is 4.08 which is interpreted as “Often”. In terms of communicating, the average weighted mean is 3.84 which interpreted as “Often”. In terms of volunteering, the average weighted mean is 3.10 which interpreted as “Sometimes”. In terms of learning at home, the average weighted mean is 4.37 which interpreted as “Often”. In terms of decision making, the average weighted mean is 3.51 which interpreted as “Often”. In terms of collaborating with the community, the average weighted mean is 3.32 which interpreted as “Sometimes”.Since the computed value of r in parenting is equal to -0.344, it was therefore interpreted that there is low negative correlation based on the correlation scale standardized. In communicating is equal to 0.038 and volunteering is equal to 0.136. It was therefore interpreted that there is a slight positive correlation based on the correlation scale standardized. In learning at home is equal to -0.090, which is therefore interpreted as having slight negative correlation based on the correlation scale standardized. In decision making is equal to -0.192, which is therefore interpreted as having slight negative correlation based on the correlation scale standardized. In collaborating with the community is equal to -0.051, which is therefore interpreted as having slight negative correlation based on the correlation scale standardized. The overall decision is to accept the null hypothesis. Therefore, there is no significant relationship between the extent of parental involvement and the academic performance of Grade 1 pupils in Lakeview Elementary School.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Feeding Program to the Academic Performance of selected Grades I and II pupils of Cupang Elementary School for the S.Y.. A child is an agent of his learning. It means that a child learns when he is active. Therefore, one of the most common problems affecting the pupils is their health condition. Malnutrition can adversely affect the physical, mental and social health aspects of a child, which in turn leads to being underweight, stunted growth, lowered immunity and even mortality. In these conditions, the pupils’ academic performance is affected.School Feeding Program is one of the effective interventions that exist to improve both children’s education and health. They can add four to six points to IQ levels, 10% to participating in schooling, and one to two years of education (UNESCO Report, 2005). It is also an established fact that the performance of the individual is directly related with his health and nutritional status. The general objective of this study is to find out whether feeding Program affects the Academic Performance of selected Grades I and II pupils of Cupang Elementary School for the S.Y. 2015- 2016. The respondents of this study were randomly selected and consisted of 40 pupils from Grades I and II pupils from Cupang Elementary School for the School Year 2015-2016.This study used Descriptive method and focused on the Feeding Program and its effect to the Academic Performance of selected pupils in Grades I and II of Cupang Elementary School.Responses to the questionnaire by Grades I and II pupils were statistically analyzed with the data requirements of the study. Descriptive statistics such as percentage, weighted mean and Pearson r were considered. The respondents under Feeding Program mostly belonged to the age group of 7 from Grades I and II pupils.Majority of the respondents belonged to the average level of 81 - 83 grades from 1st grading up to the 3rd grading. There was no significant academic progress on the part of the students while they were under Feeding Program. It means that there was no relation between Feeding Program and Academic Performance of the students.Pertaining to the Feeding Program, the respondents answered “Sometimes” to the item number three (3) which stated My health personnel conduct feeding program and activity to students-- under the indicator Health and Nutrition Education; and also answered “Often” to the item number one (1) which stated --My School conducts Feeding Program-- under the indicator Nutrition Services; and, the same answer “Often” with item number two(2) which stated --My health personnel determine the physical and mental fitness of the pupils who will participate in feeding program-- under Health School Living. Based on the data, Feeding Program has no significant effect on the Academic Performance of selected Grades I and II pupils of Cupang Elementary School for the S.Y. 2015-2016.

ABSTRACT “Reading is the mother of all skills” according to Santiago (2003) of Department of Education, National Capital Region. Therefore, one should focus more on the development of the learner’s ability to read. The reader should not easily get tired of reading. “The moment you stop learning, you stop leading.” - Rick Warren. Research indicates that reading ability is affected by number of factors such as: (1) family factors; and (2) school-based factors. Given the range of factors described above which can impact on the development of student reading ability, it is of great importance to identify specific ways in which student reading ability can be enhanced. This study used a descriptive survey method. It is used to assess socio-demographic profile as name, age, sex, and family size. This descriptive survey methods or designs include observation surveys and interviews, standardized test and case study (Castillo, 2002). The respondents of this study are from F. De Mesa Elementary School. Random sampling is used to choose the sample population entirely by chance and each member of the population has an equal chance of being included in the sample. The instrument used was a researchers made questionnaires checklist for the Grade 3 pupils of F. De Mesa Elementary School. They used the statistical measure percentage to determine how each part was related to its whole. It was used extensively to describe the demographic profile of the pupils. The weighted mean was used as the measure of the central tendency since the option of the items of questionnaire was assigned with points. This intended to use determine the scholastic performance of the pupils. After the weighted means were given verbal interpretations, ranking was used according to the size or their magnitude from the highest to the lowest in order to give proper interpretation, and to determine the importance of their position in relation to other items. And last is T-Test that is used to compare the two factors that are presented and if there are statically different to each other.Based on the analysis and interpretation of the data gathered, the researchers conclude that:The common age of the respondents is 8 years old. Male respondents were more dominant than female respondents. Small family sizes were dominant that ranges from 3-5 members.Majority of the respondents answered “Often” in statement (Daily needs like food, shelter, clothing, etc. are provided by my family that supports my interest in reading.) Majority of the respondents answered “Often” in statement (My parents encourage me to read books.) Majority of the respondents answered “Often” in statement (My teacher’s strategy helps me to improve my reading ability.) Majority of the respondents answered “Often” in statement The classroom’s quietness helps me to focus in reading.) Majority of the respondents answered “Often” in statement (I like to read with my friends or peers.)Majority of the respondents answered “Always” in statement (The reading materials that are provided by the school help me to develop my reading ability.)

ABSTRACT The researchers tend to know the impact of having motivational rewards to the Grade 5 pupils of Itaas Elementary School-Annex. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using rewards as motivation? This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using rewards motivation in classroom assessment to the learning process of the learners. The study was conducted in Itaas Elementary School NBP Annex is one of the rapidly increasing educational institutions in the First District of Muntinlupa City. It is situated on 50 hectares of land in a nurturing mountainous place zone in the south of the city and the neighboring place of National Bureau Prison (NBP). The area is a resettlement project catering relocates from seven different barangays of Muntinlupa City such as Sucat, Buli, Cupang, Alabang, Bayanan, Putatan and Tunasan. The respondents of the study were the Grade 5 pupils of Itaas Elementary School. This research is limited in finding out the effect of rewards motivation in classroom assessment as perceived by Grade 5 pupil’s sections 18 and 20 of Itaas Elementary School Annex. The descriptive method was employed in the study. The findings revealed that there is no significant difference between all the factors. The descriptive method was employed in the study. Descriptive method is defined as the purposive process of gathering and tabulating data about prevailing conditions and making accurate interpretation about such data. The sampling technique used in this study was non-probability purposive sampling. Grade 5 sections 18 and 20 were selected as respondents. These pupils were given survey questions and rewards as motivation. To assess the responses of the respondents, the researcher utilized a five-point rating scale with five being the highest and one being the lowest. To get more information to support the assessment of the respondents, the researchers will conduct an interview to the selected respondents. The common age of the respondents is 11 years old. Male respondents were more dominant than female respondents show rewards motivation in terms of tangible rewards. Statement 2 (I am excited to attend the class everyday) got the highest weighted mean of 3.42 with verbal interpretation of “Often” and ranked as number 1. shows rewards motivation in terms of word appreciation. Statement 1(I strive to study more inside the classroom every time my teacher says “Very Good”) got the highest weighted mean of 3.26 with verbal interpretation of “Often” and ranked as number 1. Table 5 shows rewards motivation in terms of test exemption. Statement 5(I give my best to get a highest score in the class) got a highest weighted mean of 3.24 with verbal interpretation of “Often” and ranked as number 1. Table 6 shows rewards motivation in terms of achiever of the week. Statement 5(I give my full concentration while listening to my teacher’s discussion.) got the highest weighted mean of 3.15 with verbal interpretation of “Often” and ranked as number 1. Therefore, it can be concluded that the observation above reflects in computing the differences for each factors. The four factors when differentiated to each other has a very short range of the differences (2.327 to 2.773) was computed. T-test of this differences were computed and not one of the absolute value is greater than the critical value of 1.96. This only shows that there are no differences between all the factors. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between all the factors. It reveals that tangible rewards got the highest mean of 3.061 with a verbal interpretation of “Often” and ranked first. Therefore, most of the respondents are motivated in terms of academic performances when they receive rewards from their teachers.

By: Bongalbal, Rubylyn L.;Campañano, Maria Cecille B.; Jose, ReyanneMargarette C.
ABSTRACT The study dealt with the Standard Qualities of an Early Childhood Program as perceived by the ECED major at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. And the study focused on Early Childhood Program and on their Standard Qualities as stated by NAEYC. In this study there are 83 students from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa who are currently taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education specializing in Early Childhood Education Academic Year 2015-2016. In an attempt to determine the significant relationship between the Process and Structure Qualities, Pearson r was used. The researchers used the whole population of the respondents to determine the significant relationship between process qualities and structure qualities. The findings show that the significant relationship between process qualities and structure qualities is “Not Significant”. It indicates that process quality and structure quality don’t have relationship; according to the recent Dutch studies on day care for zero-to-four-years old did not find effects of teacher education on process quality (Dekriff et al, 2009; Fulkih et al, 2013 and Verneer et al, 2008).The researchers used the descriptive method of research. This type of research describes an orderly, exact, documentary and empirical phenomenon. The basic instrument used to gather fact was the questionnaire. The directions were indicated at the very beginning of the form. This method of investigation used to determine the Standard Qualities of an Early Childhood Program as perceived by ECED major at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. The questionnaire was formulated with the given standard qualities of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and will be used in gathering data from ECED major of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. The questionnaire was divided into two parts. Part one contains the demographic profile of the respondents indicate the name, sex, age, year level, status in school. Part two consists of the Standard Qualities of an Early Childhood Program in terms of Process Quality and Structure Quality. Twenty-seven (27) out of eighty-three (83) respondents or 32.53% were at the age of 20-21. This means that the student of ECED major does not have an exact age bracket according to their year level. Students can take major in ECED whatever their age is.Bondroud, Leong and Rinashore (2011) stated that “Standard reflect the values of the people who set them” Five (5) out of eighty three (83) respondents or 6.02% were male and seventy eight (78) or 93.98% were female. This indicates that female is more interested in Early Childhood Teaching and fewer male were captivated by the charm of Early Childhood Education. In according to Kennedy 1991, Neuguber 1994 “a major barrier to men becoming an early childhood teacher is the pervasive belief in our society and in our profession that men are less able to cure for educate young children than women. Fifty-two (52) out of eighty-three (83) respondents or 62.65% were regular; Thirty-one (31) out of eighty-three (83) respondents or 37.35% were irregulars. This portrait that some of the students were forced to stop while studying because the income of the family can’t provide the financial needs in school and some of the irregular students are transferee. Pew Research Center(2011) report that for young adults, the ultimate bottom line is whether the degree or credential they earn will help them secure a job. In the Standard Qualities of an Early Childhood Program as perceived by ECED major at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, the process qualities curriculum ranked one which is 4.76% out of eighty-three (83) respondents. For the structure qualities teacher standardis the highest which is 4.78%. It indicates that curriculum and teacher standard are the most important but they don’t have any relationship. As per NAEYC said that a curriculum should be consistent with its goals for children and promote learning development in each of the following areas: social emotional, physical, language, and cognitive and, “the program should employ and support teaching staff that has the educational background, knowledge, and professional commitment...” According to the result of computed Pearson r and t-test, it only indicates that there is no significant relationship between the process qualities and structure qualities of Early Childhood Program.
