Research Colloquium: From a Student’s Perspective
Writing a research paper has always been one of the most dreaded activity by any college student. Aside from the finances, time, and dedication that you must allot to the research, your emotions and priority must always be in check to make sure you do not have a brain meltdown. But, in spite of the sacrifices and tears we invest for the completion of our thesis, the fruits of our labor that we harvest is always more than worth it.
Our thesis group had never asked for anything more than to pass, and get a good grade for our research. As English majors, we know that there is a healthy competition within our class, and we know that each group deserved to be hailed as best researchers for our batch. So, when it was announced that our thesis was one of the best research, we were elated, and more than grateful to be invited for the College of Teacher Education’s Research Colloquium. Excitement and anxiousness were one of the many feelings that hammered inside our chests during the event. Seeing the faces of our batch mates, dapper and ravishing yet intellectual, in their corporate attires felt very fulfilling. Each presenters contributed new knowledge to the attendees. It was like a portal to a new world filled with undiscovered information waiting to be unfold. Being one of the presenters, as well as an observer, was indeed an honor. Although our research did not made it to the final cut, we were still happy for the opportunity. Creating a research paper was indeed an arduous task, but like everything that we work hard for, everything that we invest returns to us in double quantity. Our group would like to extend our sincerest thanks to Dr. Marites Tagulao who worked hard just to make this Research Colloquium flawless and inspiring. This was truly one of the most memorable moment in our college life that we would not trade for any money in the world. To all the future researchers, God bless you! It might seem impossible at first, but I know that the Lord will guide you, just as He did with us. Just always keep the faith! -Deborah L. Edos Young English Students Society |
